Who’s bringing the magic in Magic Mike XXL

magic-mike-505a695d11d36While we will all be missing the head honcho “Dallas”, Matthew McConaughey from the second instalment of Magic Mike, the ladies will still be getting their eye candy in the sequel to the 2012 comedy. Channing Tatum, Matt Bomer, Joe Manganiello and Alex Pettyfer will all be reprising their role. In a surprising, or not so surprising announcement this morning on his talk show, Michael Strahan confirms he will have a part in the film and dishes the dirt on his  possible wardrobe. Over the past two years Tatum and Strahan have had a running joke about joining the cast, turns out they were serious.

Men can also look for some eye candy with the addition of Jada Pinkett Smith, Amber Heard and Elizabeth Banks to the roster. No specifics yet on their role in the film, but should be fun to see how they are incorporated in to the story.

The film is set to be directed by the Gregory Jacobs and released July 2015.

One of the most anticipated films to come out this fall, “The Hunger Games: Mocking Jay Part 1”, finally released the full-length trailer last week. For Hunger Games fans this is a big moment. We get to see all of Panem for the first time as well as seeing some of the new characters like Cressida (Natalie Dormer) and President Alma Coin (Julianne Moore). Ms. Everdeen  is more confident and courageous  as we see her now as the the Mocking Jay. Whether you have read the books or not we want to know what fate has in store for Peeta, how will Katniss save him this time? The two previous installment of the trilogy have stuck pretty close to the book, but with new writers, we may just be in for a for a surprise.

Luckily we will still be able see the late Phillip Seymour Hoffman in Mocking Jay Part 2 but it is still exciting to see him again as Heavensbee in Part 1 where he will show his true colors against President Snow in an effort to take down the Capitol.

The new trailer is making the wait for its release on November 21st even more agonizing.

What’s In A Name?

The success of a film or TV show can often ride or die on the Star. The bigger the star is the bigger the chance the project has to be successful. The general public often goes to see a movie because it has Tom Hanks or Brad Pitt as the star; studios like to have stars in the film because it almost always guarantees ticket sales and a media frenzy around the film. Sometimes though it is refreshing to see a film with unknowns. You can really get more into the story and the characters because you are not concentrating on the star, relating them back to another role. You discover some really amazing new talent and enjoy raw acting.

There is an article about the new ‘Power Rangers’ Movie that talks about the casting decisions.  Producer Roberto Orci is supposedly looking to cast more unknowns to play the Iconic 90’s high school hero’s. Will this hinder the success of the film? Do you think they need a big name to draw in audiences, or would you go see it anyway?
